The Sullivans left their home in Rockville, Maryland in 1957 to move to Seoul, South Korea.
Eugene F. Sullivan was a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department and was sent out to Seoul in 1956. The family joined him in September, 1957.
At the time, the family consisted of Hope and her five children:
Denny (age 10),
Mike (age 8),
Maureen (age 6),
Jerry (age 4), and
Pat (age 2).
Jamie was born September 19, 1957,
10 days after the family arrived in Korea.
